Only a 2 minute stroll from Gloucester's iconic Cathedral
And here's the view of it from our garden!
26 Westgate Street, our home, in the ancient Cathedral quarter, is widely acknowledged to be Britain's finest example of a medieval timber-framed townhouse.
In addition to displaying our stunning range of antiques and collectibles, "Number 26" itself is rich in history, dating back to the 15th century, and has been occupied by various merchants, clothiers and the judiciary (a former Assize Judge's Lodgings) and it was once thought to have been used by Colonel Massey as a military headquarters during the Siege of Gloucester in 1643. The upper floors of the building contain beautiful and outstandingly well preserved Tudor roofing and windows, vintage industrial equipment and boast outstanding views of Gloucester Cathedral. The windows, overlooking Maverdine Lane, are absolutely stunning and are considered one of the best examples of their kind in the country. Furthermore, it's possible to partake in guided tours of the upper floors of Number 26 and Maverdine Lane. For more details, check out our Heritage Page.
